Free to air digital decoders have flooded the Kenyan market ever since the analogue - digital TV migration took place in 2015.

Today, we are going to share with you a list of best free to air decoders in Kenya which are mostly used by the common mwananchi.

1. Bamba TV Decoder - It was officially launched by Lancial Digital Broadcast LTD, a branch of Radio Africa Groups in 2014. 

The free to air decoder retails at Ksh. 3,6000 and has over 50 local and international channels for their clients.

Kenyans should register their Bamba TV Decoders within 60 days after purchasing by dialing *297#.

2. StarTimes Decoder - It is among the best leading free to air decoders in Kenya. StarTimes has both the free to air and pay decoder. 

For free to air decoder, one is supposed to pay a one time fee of Ksh. 3,300 to Ksh. 4,200 depending on the package you want. 

3. ADN Decoder - Their decoder retails between Ksh. 3,600 to Ksh. 4,500 depending on the kind of package you want. 

Their signal is very strong and one can watch more than 15 channels without paying any monthly subscription fee among them; KTN Home, NTV, Inooro TV, K24 TV, Citizen TV, KBC and KTN News.

4.  Phelister Decoder - It was officially launched in May 2018. The free to air decoder gives their clients an opportunity to enjoy various local channels. 

Phelister decoder also comes with a USB port, personal video recorder (PVR) and its full HD.

5. Sky Life Decoder - The free to air decoder has been fully approved by the Communications Authority of Kenya and it retails at Ksh. 1,799.

Sky Life decoder has over 70 channels and the interesting bit about the decoder is that you can record what you are watching and also listen to radio.

6. The Big Box Decoder from Safaricom - The decoder has over 30 channels and it currently retails at Ksh. 4,999.

It's worth your time and money because it runs on android Jelly Bean and one can also record what they are watching on either USB or a memory card.

The big box decoder has 1GB of RAM and 4GB internet storage which can be expanded up to 32 GB.

7. Hot Point Decoder - The free to air decoder has over 28 channels and it retails at Ksh. 3,195 with a one year warranty.

8. Technosat Ts 1500 HD - Its one of the best decoders for those who cannot afford the paid ones.

Some of its greatest futures include full HD MPEG 4 and blind scalability. Technosat Ts 1500 HD decoder also supports PVR and USB.

9. SumsuTech DVB T2 - The free to air decoder has over 30 TV channels and radio stations. 

It also has a USB port which can be used to play movies and music. One can also record what they are watching.

10. Thy Word Decoder - It is one of the best free to air decoders for people who cannot afford the likes of GOTV and DSTV.

It comes in a silver color and also has more than 50 TV channels.
