How to Apply For KRA TAX Penalty Waiver

Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) is a government agency that is liable for the assessment, collection and accounting for all money that are due to the government, in obedience with the Kenyan law.

It was founded in 1995 and their headquarter is in Nairobi. KRA has two different ways when it comes to applying for TAX penalty waiver. 

1. Applying on the TAX station.
2. Applying online.

Below is a detailed procedure on how to apply for KRA TAX penalty waiver

1. On your browser go to https://itax.kra.go.ke/KRA-Portal/
2. Enter your KRA PIN number and click on the "continue" button.
3. Key in your KRA PIN password in order to access the portal.
4. On the security stamp enter the correct answer and click on the login button.
5. Once you have successfully logged in to the KRA portal, go to Debts and Enforcement. Click on it.
6. You will see "Apply for Waiver for Penalties and Interest" option. 
7. Click on it and enter the required details.
8. Click on "Apply for Waiver for Penalties and Interest". Under it select "Applicant Type" as "Taxpayer" and choose "Tax Obligation". Eg: VAT or Income Tax Individual then choose either "penalty, interest or even both".
9. You will be required to pick each year a waiver exists and enter the preferred value you wish to request for waiver and click on the submit button.
